well, first a lot of thought was put into it. it’s always a tough decision when putting up a new background. you have to appeal to the audience you know?
but to answer your clearly excellent question, a lot of time, patience and hard work was put into it.

i’m bewildered! everyone says my movies are terrible, but tell me, mr. glub, you liked armageddon? good. excellent movie! all my movies are great. just sit back and put yourself in in that spaceship and you do it now.
you are now ben affleck and you are finding out the world is about to end. it’s your duty, along with your best tough, rough and rowdy pals, to save your planet. to save the girl of your dreams. all these pieces of a big old meteor is coming crashing down into your beloved planet! a planet where you and liv tyler are going to get married, have a beautiful child and raise it! but first you have to go through intense space training. the stress, the count down, the weight of there only being one shot for all of this to come true, it’s heavy and on YOUR shoulders! even in this time of stress you have your future wives father look down on you. you are trying so hard! but how will it turn out? the pressure, the pressure.
so you leave on a jet plane (ok a space ship) and now you’re in space. your one stop for fuel and everything goes wrong. time passes and things are looking even worse— oh god you’ve been hit! independence heads down and crashes roughly into the asteroids unforgiving surface. freedom goes on ahead. things are tougher now, your spirits are down, steve buscemi is going crazy (as usual) so you tie him down and get him out of the way, god what a nut job. it’s terrible— and then— then— what’s that? ben is back! you’re back! you are back and ready to pierce the asteroid with your drill!
almost there- but the bomb! it keeps happening. everything seems to go wrong when there’s no time. you are pressured and someone has to sacrifice themselves. bruce willis and you (ben) have the most touching moment, one that leads you free to marry the girl of your dreams. it’s hard. it’s so hard to see the man who you thought hated you die…
but the world is safe. you return home at last, marry your loving wife and never pay taxes again.
